Double Digits

Max could hardly believe he was finally going to be in the double digits...he turned ten last week and it was very exciting. He wanted donuts for his class (the more sprinkles the better) and grilled steak and Martinellis for dinner to celebrate.

Amanda gave him a wrist rocket. We learned that it's hard to find a good place to shoot rocks without hitting your neighbor's house. And we learned that shooting candy in the house at your sisters isn't very well received either. We might need to take a trip out to the country. Too bad we didn't have this in Denver because we could've really had some fun trying to eliminate the thousands of pesky rabbits.

Max also got the Jeremy McGrath pogo ("Moto") stick...it is no ordinary pogo stick. It's like a professional super sonic crazy one that you see people doing flips or jumping cars with online.

At first Max was too light to really push it down or make it work. He couldn't get past 2 bounces. Mitch could get about 8. Then I got 36. So Mitch had to beat that and got 45. But Max was discouraged and wanted to get the Walmart little kid one that he had tried at our 6-year-old neighbor's house. No way would Mitch let that happen. He told him to get back on the darn Moto Stick and practice until he could get to 100 bounces. He challenged him to do it within a week. The next day he took it outside and got serious, and within an hour he got past 100.

Max has the family record of 125 bounces right now.
Mitch is close behind at 119.

The kids also got an IPad to share for Max's birthday. Mitch just won it in a sales contest at work (good job, honey!). I thought Mitch was crazy when IPads came out and he brought not one but 2 of them home. I was really pretty upset. I changed my mind within about one week...I don't go anywhere without mine and really can't figure out how I lived without it before. Now the kids wont be bugging me for access to mine!

Happy 10th Birthday to Maxwell Jordan Rhoads. His arrival in our family was an absolute miracle and he has blessed us beyond measure. If you don't believe me, you will after you watch this!
