Some highlights (read: things we remembered to photograph) from December:
Grandma Carol has a tradition of making Gingerbread houses with the kids each year. Our kids were very sad to be 800 miles away from her this year and miss it. So we got the kits and the kids created their masterpieces. Sadly, I forgot to take pictures of their finished products. But believe me, they were awesomely creative and super sweet.
We were in charge of the Ward Christmas Party, which was a breakfast with Santa. We decorated it as a white Christmas.
Max didn't want to, but I made him pose with Santa...he's a good sport!
Emmie with her peeps Brooke and Alexa.
The centerpieces.
The treats for good children from Santa.
Here is our Christmas tree.
My favorite thing: our Christmas day family hike up Camelback Mountain! It was close to 80 degrees and gorgeous blue skies.
After the hike we had Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant which was delicious because we didn't have to slave away in the kitchen or do dishes. All day Mitch kept saying things that were a little bit across the line, starting with some comment about "reproduction" which caused Max to ask "What's that?" During his explanation all three kids were mortified and shocked. After a few more incidents of crossing the line, we decided that his filter must have been broken when Max shot him in the head that morning with his new Airsoft Gun. Once we made that connection, we were a little more understanding and could just roll our eyes and say knowingly to each other: "Oh yeah, dad's filter is broken."
This photo had something to do with the broken filter situation.
